Here we come a wassailing...

Once again we are heading into the Christmas season and we are living in the main house for the next 6 months.
Leaving our Loft apartment is like closing up one's cottage for the summer.  I will miss my fabulous views of the backyard, the bright late afternoon sunshine that floods the apartment with a warm glow and more practically, the ability to cook dinner and watch television at the same time.  However, the main house is not without its' charm.  The setting may be more formal but I'm surrounded by the colours and style of decor that I have always loved - warm reds, oranges and browns make this a cozy spot.  My windows face the front of the house now so I'm more aware of the comings and goings of my neighbours and when the Christmas lights are on I can see them from every room!   I love sleeping once again in my king-size bed in the most luxurious bedroom I have ever had. Christmas baking and Sunday roasts are a breeze with my double oven range.
The Loft had it's bi-annual scrub and polish in preparation for the few visitors that travel to the County during the winter months.  Those that have stayed with us are delightfully surprised when they see the Loft with its' cathedral ceiling, massive fireplace and spectacular view.  It's hard to capture the ambience of the space in photos.  Once they see how cozy it is, guests often change their plans and decide to stay in for the evening either cooking their own meal in the fully equipped kitchen or ordering in.  Why go out when you can curl up with a glass of wine in front of the fireplace?  Cozy enough for 2 yet with ample seating for 6, the Loft is a great spot for a gathering of family and friends.  Like all hidden gems, it hasn't had the same exposure at the Bed and Breakfast side of the business.  Next year we may put together a special Wassail and Maple in the County package which will make this space more marketable.
