Winter has finally arrived in Prince Edward County!
Looking out the kitchen window at the blowing and drifting snow, I’m wondering how many inches (or cm) I will have to shovel when it is all over. It is hard to believe that just 2 days ago as I was walking through Delhi Park and the Glenwood Cemetery (my favourite hike with Gromet, my lhasapoo dog); I noticed how green the grass was for January.

Well it certainly is quiet at this time of the year in the County. I guess that’s why so many of the local businesses are taking a winter break at this time. Up until now I was just too busy with Christmas preparations and family to notice but now I think I will be hard pressed to occupy my days. As much as I was so looking forward to this “down” time, I am beginning to miss the comings and goings of my B & B guests and also the baking and breakfast preparation. I am trying very hard not to bake since I will be the only one sampling the goods and I don’t need the extra calories!
I do have a few winter projects on the backburner though. I am itching to tile my kitchen backsplash, stain the step down into the lounge and paint the kitchen cupboards in the loft to name a few. Once I start, I know I will work at a frantic pace until I’m done so I have been hesitant to start, still enjoying the mellow mood that overtook me during the holidays.
